Many people go on San Diego vacations because the city boasts of some of the best beaches in the country.

Zuma Beach ~ Malibu ~ A beach town that has a marina for boats and yachts. There are fine dining restaurants on the waterfront that include The Cheesecake Factory, El Torito's and Charlie Brown's. This community is home of bodybuilding and Fitness USA competitions.

NEWPORT BEACH: The wave break over the breakwater and it is create strong waves. There is no boards allow in this harbor so it is a haven for expert bodysurfing. Trendy Southern California Beach, Newport Beach also is welknown for Trendsetters. There are so many things to do beside being at the beach building sandcastles, sunbathing or strolling on the beach. You should go on the boat tours. During winter, there are whale-watching tour and for children, there's an old-fashioned Fun Zone with rides galore. This beach town also has a friendly atmosphere but can be crowded with summer sightseeers. Don't forget to step out to see Historic Balboa Pavilion, a nearby state park, and visit Fashion Island for shopping fun.

CORONA DEL MAR: This wide, deep beach offers a lot of room, which attracts large crowds. A jetty keeps the waves mild to moderate (boogie boards can be rented). Volleyball nets, fire pits and a grassy picnic area make for a great all-day beach. Climb over the sandstone rock to Pirates Cove on the west to see interesting geology that attracts rock climbers.
Until the late 1920s, Corona del Mar was a tiny village, reached from the peninsula by small boat at high tide, or by a muddy dirt road that crossed over the Irvine Ranch. Today, Corona del Mar offers many landmark places to visit, as well as some of the most trendy shops and restaurants.

Near by cities, Newport Beach, San Juan Capristrano, Crysal Cove State Park.

LAGUNA BEACH:  Parking difficulties aside, this may be OC's premier beach, if the blend of locals and tourists from around the world is any indication. It's quaint and picturesque, yet has plenty of attractions: basketball courts, volleyball courts, a nearby concentration of shopping downtown, and decent waves. Sand too crowded? Head north or south to the more secluded bays and coves.

Salt Creek Beach Park extends for more than a mile below coastal bluffs. This is a particularly gorgeous beach with broad expanses of sand. Public Restrooms are available. Surf fishing, Boogie boarding, and surfing are allowed. The shore is crowded near the beach entrance, so for a more secluded spot, you'll have to walk a few hundred yards to the north or south. Bring lots of quarters for the meters.

There is also a 1920s vintage carousel, plus skeeball, air hockey, pinball, video games and more. A bait and tackle shop on the pier serves fishing fans. South of the pier is the newly renovated Chess Park and the original Muscle Beach.
